Final Fantasy XVI is set to release on June 22, 2023, as an action RPG for the PlayStation 5. The game takes place in the realm of Valisthea, a land relying on Mothercrystals for its magical power. However, the aether in the crystals is fading, leading to the spread of lifeless deadlands and tensions among nations. Eikons, powerful creatures residing within Dominants, further complicate matters. Dominants can control the Eikons, and they are treated differently across nations.

The protagonist, Clive Rosfield, is the firstborn son of the Duke of Rosaria and the older brother of Joshua, the Dominant of the Phoenix. Despite being expected to inherit the Phoenix’s power, Clive becomes the protector of his brother. However, their lives change when their home is attacked, leading Clive on a dangerous journey of revenge.

The game features a diverse cast of characters, including Clive, Joshua, Jill Warrick, Torgal, Cidolfus Telamon, Benedikta Harman, Hugo Kupka, Dion Lesage, and Barnabas Tharmr. Each character has their own unique abilities and roles in the story.

The combat in Final Fantasy XVI is fast-paced and real-time, with players controlling Clive and utilizing a wide range of attacks to defeat enemies. Clive can also call upon the powers of the Eikons he encounters, such as the Phoenix, Titan, Ramuh, and Shiva. Players can switch between these powers during combat. Additionally, Clive is accompanied by allies in certain parts of the game, including his loyal hound Torgal.

Epic battles between Eikons, controlled by their respective Dominants, are a highlight of the game. These battles showcase the immense power and scale of the entities involved. Final Fantasy XVI is designed to be accessible to players of all skill levels, with special accessories that can be equipped to change the gameplay experience.

The development team behind Final Fantasy XVI includes notable individuals such as producer Naoki Yoshida, main director Hiroshi Takai, creative director Kazutoyo Maehiro, localization director Michael-Christopher Koji Fox, art director Hiroshi Minagawa, combat director Ryota Suzuki, character designer Kazuya Takahashi, and composer Masayoshi Soken.
